Farm Kitchen

Val and Arthur do a wonderful job running our Farm Kitchen on Saturdays and Sundays, 10am – 3pm – and Friday nights in the warmer weather.

Alongside serving our famous Hawkes Hot Chips (which happen to be made from naturally gluten free ingredients), Vulcano Gelato from Rye, Hawkes Fruit Smoothies and the delicious Chocolate Mousse they make by hand, Val and Arthur also make crêpes and Croque Monsieur.

Val's parents once owned a crêperie in Brittany called La Papoteuse (The Chatterbox!) and these use the same family recipe – cooked on a pan Val brought back from France – served with homemade salted caramel!

They're forever dreaming up delicacies to share with the community, such as their Traditional French Vinaigrette!

The recipe is inspired by Arthur's Grandmothers Marie Claire (Mamie) and Thérèse (Mamou) from North Brittany. As a kid, Arthur spent many hours on kitchen benches learning from his Grandmothers, and this delicious Vinaigrette is testament to that. A mix of mustards, seasonings, vinegars, oils and love, the Vinaigrette adds the perfect touch to a salad; especially a potato salad!

Throughout the year they also serve corn, soup, cheese, and strawberries and cream, depending on the season!
