Hawkes History
6 generations of respect, knowledge and care
Hawkes hands have grown Victorian fruit and vegetables for more than 100 years. Today, our iconic Kipfler potatoes are in restaurants across Australia. Turning off Boneo Road, the sandy earth drive passes pick ‘n’ ride tour trailers, regeneratively-farmed paddocks, and a 1970s tractor for kids to play on.
Open 8am – 5pm daily, Hawkes Farm Market – once bags of spuds and an honesty box – is now a one-stop shop for the best of local produce.
Hawkes Farm Kitchen
Open every Saturday and Sunday 10am – 3pm, our beautiful French Hawkers Val and Arthur are either hand-cutting and thrice-cooking Hot Chips, or drizzling their vinaigrette maison over another delectable dish.
Check the seasonal menu for when Val and Arthur are serving Hawkes corn or strawberries, farm-made chocolate mousse, soups, smoothies, crepes or croque monsieur – or local heroes Vulcano Gelato. (Please note, these are not all always available.)
The Farm Market counter also pours Little Rebel coffee, juices, pies and sweets 7 days a week 8am – 5pm.
What's On?
Farmer Richard and the team are proud to share both Hawkes Grown and other Best of Local produce to celebrate Victorian Heroes; the brilliant farmers, makers and businesses on the Peninsula and in the region – making life easier to access fresh and quality produce. Come for the hand-cut, thrice-cooked Hot Chips, stay for the full farm experience. Whether it’s fresh local sourdough, Peninsula Wildflower posies or our famous Hawkes grown potatoes, there’s plenty of fresh air, broad horizons and endless paddocks of fresh crops to treasure. With garden benches, a picnic lawn, mini-digger’s sand ‘quarry’ and a vintage 70s tractor, there’s plenty for kids and adults to do.
